Tensho Koshirae is known to be the most basic and practical sword from
around the 1600's and this model is based on such typical Momoyama style
Tensho Koshirae. In accordance with the original and historic record, the
Tsukagashira is made of water-buffalo horn and the Tsuka shape resembles
that of two inverted cones(Ryo Ryugo) with a very slim "waist"
in the middle, similar to the shape of hand-drums(Tsuzumi). Such is the
elegance and practicality of this sword mounting that it became a favorite
of General Iyeyasu Tokugawa. The cotton Tsuka cord is securely wrapped
over genuine sharkskin and the Saya in lacquired in Cha Urumi.
