Katana Polisher's Premium Uchiko Powder
This is an Uchiko for katana, handmade by Tomonobu Yokoyama, a Japanese sword polisher at the workshop of the Bizen Osafune Sword Museum in Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture.
Made from premium Uchigomori grinding stone powder blended with a special powder for Japanese sword polishing passed down through generations from Mr. Yokoyama's master, this is a unique Uchiko that undergoes a special secret processing. This special processing rounds the edges of the particles, making them smoother. This reduces the likelihood of creating surface imperfections when wiping the blade.

Mr. Yokoyama himself uses this Uchiko on his treasured swords. To verify the particle shape, the Okayama Prefectural Industrial Technology Center compared the powder before and after processing using a digital microscope. The results confirmed that after processing, the particles became finer, with each individual particle losing its sharp edges and gaining a rounded shape. Furthermore, the thread used to tie the cloth holding the powder together employs genuine silk accordion thread, the same type used in Tsukamaki, adding a touch of style.
Take care of your precious Japanese sword with special Uchiko to maintain its beauty forever.
