¥600,000

This sword has been stored in good condition and has no particular noticeable flaws, dents, or chips. There are a few spots of black rust, but they do not affect viewing. The sword is believed to have originally been about 70 cm in length, but has been shortened to its current length. The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords recognizes this sword as Kaifu. Kaifu was a group of swordsmiths in the Awa province (present Tokushima prefecture) whose production was encouraged by the Kaifu family, and swords were actively made from the Kamakura period (1185-1333) to the end of the Edo period (1603-1868). During the Edo period (1603-1867), the Kaifu were the official swordsmiths of the Hachisuka family and forged swords under the Tokushima Castle. Kaifu swords had a reputation at the time for cutting well.

This sword has a dragon maki-e on the scabbard and a butterfly design on the iron tsuba (tsubaki). The rim-head is made of red copper and the menuki is made of copper. The scabbard, tsuba, menuki, and scabbard have been certified as valuable pieces of equipment by tThe Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords. Both the sword and the sheath have certificates of authenticity. We are selling this valuable sword at a very reasonable price.
