Katana - Mumei(No Signature) - Uchigatana Koshirae - Suriage Nakago - Shinto Era
This sword was made in the late Koto period or early Shinto, and the blade is thought to have been longer, with suriage and hi engraving in later years. The blade is in relatively good condition with no fatal flaws or dents throughout, but there are some very shallow scratches on the boshi on the back side and on the front side about 6 cm from the yokote.
The hada is well packed with itame and hada with mokume mixed in. The hamon has kogunome nie on the notare. The handle is wrapped in black leather and has a very tasteful texture that has aged well. The tsuba, menuki, and fuchi-kashira are from a later period, but they are still very attractive as antiques. The scabbard is nashiji lacquered in a golden brown color with a very beautiful finish.
The weight is 900 grams without the scabbard, and it is also suitable for iai since it has the hi grooves on both sides of the blade.
This is a great value for money sword that is good to look at and good to use.
