Katana - Mumei(No Signature) - Uchigatana Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinshinto Era - Hyogo 122963
This katana was made during the Shinshinto period and is wide, shallowly curved, and heavy. The preservation condition of the blade has no significant dents or flaws, but there are some dotted forging flaws and black rust in some places. There is also some rusting on the sashiomote side where it is located under the habaki. The overall surface of the sword is a little cloudy, but it is still possible to appreciate the itame hada and ko-gunome hamon. The nakago has had some rust removed in later years.
The koshirae is equipped with a handachi fuchi-kashira and has a beefy square tsuba. It also has a large habaki to match the wider blade. The weight of the sword makes it ideal for test cutting. The price was set reasonable considering the condition of the blade, so it is recommended as an introductory katana for those who want to learn about Japanese swordsmanship.
