Ken - Masaaki - Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Gendai Era - Gifu 73093

¥450,000 ¥500,000

This piece is a double-edged sword created in 1999 when Kanehisa Yoshida, a Gifu swordsmith, was Masaaki the second before he changed his name yet. Weapons with a double-edged shape exist all over the world, and in Japan, too, they were double-edged before they evolved into the shape of Japanese swords as we know them today. In Japan, swords have also appeared in history since ancient times. Among them, three swords, the Amenomurakumo Tsurugi, one of the "Three Sacred Treasures" (Sanshu no Jingi), the Amenototsuka no Tsurugi described in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters), and the Futsunomitama enshrined at the Ishigami Shrine (Tenri, Nara) The three swords are known as "Kamiyosanken" (three swords of the divine era).

Massaaki the second painstakingly crafted these swords, the prototypes of Japanese swords, using tamahagane, the material from which Japanese swords are made. This piece has been kept by his son Masaya and has not been on the market until now, so the sword is in excellent condition. There are no flaws at all and it is very beautiful. The well-packed itame hada is decorated with notare hamon. You can enjoy seeing hataraki such as aranie and kinsen in the ha. On the scabbard is the date of production in his own handwriting.

By all means, this piece is very much worth adding to your Japanese sword collection.
