O-Tanto - Mumei(No Signature) - Uchigatana/Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinto Era - Iwate 24619

¥320,000

Newly arrived is a long unsigned tanto equipped with a massive koshirae and a sword blade of ohada kitae.

This tanto was made in the early Edo period and is a truly delightful piece with mokume hada and other features clearly visible. The sword is in very good condition, with no defects such as flaws or rust. There is a small dent on the mune 3.5 cm from the munemachi, but otherwise the sword can be said to be very sound.

In jitetsu, mokume is like a painting with itame hada interspersed throughout, reminiscent of works from the Koto period. Hamon is a relaxed notare of niedeki, and is elegant. Koshirae is estimated to have been used as wakizashi in the uchigatana style.

All fittings are of the period and equipped with kozuka. The larger Kojiri is very presentable. This koshirae matches well with the sword blade and is very beautiful for viewing.

This very nice looking O-tanto is a great piece that will surely please you.
