Tanto - Kunimitsu - NBTHK Hozon Certificate - Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinshinto Era - Kanagawa 6702

¥350,000

This piece is an affordable short dagger with an NBTHK appraisal.

The blade is in extremely good condition, with no flaws whatsoever, suggesting that it was carefully preserved. The jigane has a base tone of itame with some mokume mixed in, and the yubashiri is also clearly visible. The hamon is irregular choji, with very active hataki such as tama and ashi in places. The nakago is engraved with the name “Senshu Kunimitsu.”

Senshu refers to the area corresponding to the southwestern part of Osaka today, and Kunimitsu was a swordsmith active from the late Edo period to the Meiji era, as noted in the certificate of authenticity.

If you are seeking an excellent-condition Japanese sword with a certificate of authenticity at an affordable price, this short dagger should be added to your wish list.
