Tanto - Mumei - Tanto Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinto Era - Fukui 15123

¥298,000

This piece is an unsigned ubu Shobu-zukuri dagger made in the mid-Edo period.

The condition of preservation is excellent, and the entire blade has been polished. There are no flaws, rust, or chips, and the sword is completely sound. The jigane is Matsukawa hada, reminiscent of the bark of a pine tree, and the hamon is a niedeki, relaxed, notare-esque suguha.

The shape of the sword blade is Shobu-zukuri, giving it a grand appearance.

The koshirae is wrapped with silk tsukaito in the tsumami-maki style, and the scabbard lacquer is dark red with tame-nuri, which brings out the grain pattern of the wood. The koshirae's metal fittings are of high quality period pieces, and the kozuka and kogatana also give it the appearance of a Samurai warrior's spirit.

This dagger has a prestigious atmosphere and is sure to be a favorite of fans of Japanese swords.
