Tanto(Yoroidoshi) - Ujifusa - NBTHK Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho Certificate/NTHK Certificate - Aikuchi/Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinto Era - Osaka 56008

¥700,000

A new Yoroidoshi with a certificate of authenticity, made by Bizenokami Ujifusa, son of Hidanokami Ujifusa, who served as Oda Nobunaga's minor retainer, has just arrived.

The blade is extremely well preserved, with no flaws, rust, or chips. The hada has itame mixed with mokume, with active chikei and yubashiri, and possesses a picturesque beauty. Hamon is a thin suguha with tight nie, and boshi is returned in nakamaru. The motohaba is 10.3 mm long and very thick, making it a very powerful hirazukuri. The names Bizenokami Ujifusa and Bizenokami Ujifusa are engraved on the Nakago.

Bizenokami was the third generation of Ujifusa, and excelled at sharp cutting work. This sword is equipped with both shirasaya and aikuchi koshirae.

The aikuchi koshirae is equipped with metal fittings of the period, and the tsuka is wrapped with rattan and lacquered with black urushi. The kozuka is also equipped with metal fittings, and the ichimonji also has metal fittings. The scabbard is lacquered in very fine dark vermilion Tsuishu, which gives it a very luxurious appearance.

The Society for Preservation of Japanese Swords(NBTHK) issued a certificate of authenticity in 1978 for this sword as a very valuable sword, especially for posterity, after an appraisal by Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho as one of the best of the specially valuable swords. Also in 1990, the Nippon Token Hozonkai(NTHK) issued a certificate of authenticity for this sword and its aikuchi koshirae as authentic from that time.

This is a wonderful gem that could become a family heirloom, and only TOZANDO can offer such a wonderful and authentic tanto.
