Katana - Mumei(No Signature) - Uchigatana Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinshinto Era - Gunma 19119

¥650,000

A magnificent katana from the Shinshinto period, which is wide, thick, and heavy, has just arrived.

The state of preservation is relatively clean for its age, with no flaws, chips, or rust. The hada is a mixture of itame and mokume, clearly visible and in a style that reminds us of works from the Koto period. It also has very active hataraki such as chikei and yubashiri. Furthermore, hamon is beautiful suguha and nie is very tight. The entire sword blade is beautiful and picturesque.

Koshirae is equipped with uchigatana, and the metal fittings and scabbard are the same as those used in those days. The tsuka cord is made of canvas and is of the tsumami style. Since it has actually been used, there is some discoloration on the surface due to age, but this has become a texture. The sheath is delicately lacquered with a unique grain-toned finish that matches well with the color of the tsukaito. The sheath has been repaired in recent years, and there are traces of cellophane tape that has been removed from the sashiura side.

This katana is of great value as it reminds us of the tumultuous time in Japanese history at the end of the Edo period. This is an excellent item not only for fans of Japanese katana, but also for lovers of Japanese history and practitioners of the batto.
