This tanto is a very well-preserved piece in relatively good condition, and the name Kuniyoshi is engraved on the nakago.
The blade is well polished and free of any defects such as forging flaws, but there are minute scratch marks on the sashiura side, which were caused when the sword was removed from the scabbard. There are different grooves carved on the sashiomote side and the sashiura side.
The grooves on the sashiura side, in particular, appear to have been worn by polishing. The hada is well packed with itame, and hataraki such as chikei can be seen here and there. The hamon of the notare-style suguha is a yakizume boshi. The price is set low so that people can enjoy antique Japanese swords easily.
