Wakizashi - Ietoshi - Shirasaya - Suriage Nakago - Koto Era - Kyoto 61831

¥180,000

This is a very well-preserved Koto Wakizashi with a certificate of authenticity.

There are very few flaws, chips or rust. There are some scuffs on the surface of the blade from pulling out the scabbard, but overall it is very sound. The jigane is very clean with well-packed itame. Hamon is a gunome with niedeki with various hataraki like tama, ashi, nie and kinsen very active. Both sides of the blade are engraved with bohi.

Originally this katana was much longer, but in the course of time it was shortened by suriage to its present length. The name of the swordsmith, Ietoshi, is engraved on the nakago. Iyetoshi was active in the Bizen region and that this piece was made in the late Muromachi period.
