Sanchomo Katana Hamon T-shirt
The unique hamon of that legendary national treasure, Sanchomo blade, has been recreated as a T-shirt logo and is now sold exclusively by Tozando!
Bizen Osafune has flourished as a production center of Japanese swords in Bizen Province (present-day Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture) since the Kamakura period (1185-1333) and is known as the “sacred land of Japanese swords,” producing nearly half of all Japanese swords designated as national treasures or important cultural properties.
In Bizen Province, the main territory was the lower reaches of the Yoshii River, where iron sand, praised as the best in Japan in terms of both quality and quantity, was mined, enabling the production of high-quality swords.
Among them, Sanchomo blade made by the Fukuoka Ichimonji school, which flourished from the early to mid-Kamakura period and produced many swordsmiths, is a famous sword widely known as Uesugi Kenshin's favorite sword.
Tozando has created an original T-shirt based on the “Sanchomo” seal of approval. On the front, Japanese artist Naondo Fukumoto has reproduced the beautiful blade pattern in Japanese ink painting, overlapping the lettering of the seal of approval, creating a design that is both chic and striking.
On the back, the official Setouchi City logo of “Osafune, the sacred place of Japanese swords” is printed at the top.
