A new katana has arrived that is ideal for batto and iai and is in relatively good preservation condition.

The sword blade has some scuff marks in places, but there are no flaws such as flaws or rust. The jigane is a well-polished itame hada, with overall niedeki. Hamon is gently notare and nioikuchi is well tightened. The Nakago is engraved with the crest of a three-leaf hollyhock associated with the Tokugawa family. In addition, “Yasutsugu echizen ni te korewo tsukuru” are engraved, but someone has sanded the surface of the Nakago in later years, making it difficult to read the words. Although the name “Yasutsugu” is engraved, its authenticity is unknown.

The koshirae are made of fine metal fittings, but they are not consistent and are from different periods. The black silk tsukite is wrapped in the tsumami-maki style and lacquered over it. The scabbard is of the kizami type, with black lacquer overlaid on vermilion, and age-related peeling has partially exposed the vermilion, creating a unique coloring.

This piece is a very affordable yet practical katana.
