This sword is the work of Takada Munekage, active between the Koto and Shinto periods, who served Otomo Yoshimune, a feudal lord in Bungo Province. The Takada school was a group that created swords that had a reputation for cutting well without breaking or bending in actual battle, and they are still very popular today. His name is engraved on the Nakago, and the sword has a certificate of authenticity from the Japanese Society for Preservation of Art Swords.
The sword is in good condition, with itame skin and simple but never boring suguha. The boshi is nakamaru. The blade is grooved with marutome Hi, furthermore, the weight is 900 grams excluding the scabbard, making it an ideal sword for iaido.
The metal fittings of the equipment are from that time, and the tsukasame is beautifully finished with black lacquer coated and polished grain in vermillion. The fuchikashira and tsuba are unified with camellia flowers. The tsuba is engraved with a craftsman's name Masachika. The scabbard is lacquered with an akebono pattern reminiscent of the rising sun. It is also equipped with shirasaya, so it can be equipped in the uchigatana when in use and in the shirasaya when not in use.
