Kanekuni was a group of swordsmiths who started from Yamato Tegai in the Kamakura period and were active until the Edo period. This piece was made by the sixth generation of Kanekuni, counting from the first generation, and was active in Yamato Province from the Kanbun to Enpo periods in the early Edo Period. He then moved to Settsu, Osaka, and became a pupil of the first Tambanokami Yoshimichi.

The koshirae is equipped with an authentic tsukamaki, which is made of silk tsukaito wrapped in silk and coated with Urushi-lacquer over it, and a unique lacquered scabbard, in which a cord is wrapped around the scabbard and Urushi-lacquered over it.
