Katana - Kanemitsu - Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Gendai Era - Kumamoto 58300
The magnificent Kiyomaro utsushi by Akamatsu Taro Kanemitsu, winner of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for the most outstanding sword at the 16th Amulet Sword Exhibition held by the All Japan Sword Artisans Association, is now in stock.
This katana is a wonderful replica of a Kiyomaro's work from the final years of the Tokugawa Shogunate. It was completed in August 2024 and is brand new, with no flaws or defects. The hada is a powerful itame and shows chikei. The hamon is nioideki with gnome midare, characteristic of Kiyomaro's work. The ha is interlaced with kinsen, and the overall effect is a very powerful work with high energy. The kisaki is a large one, measuring 10 cm, and Kanemitsu has done an excellent job of recreating the very work of Kiyomaro.
The Akamatsu Taro clan is famous for creating katanas with a very nice cutting edge, thanks to their amazing forging skills, in addition to making their own tamahagane from iron sand the old-fashioned way. There is an anecdote that when they tried their hand at cutting a katana, they even cut a pebble on the ground in half.
You should definitely add a replica of Kiyomaro made by Kanemitsu, who is supreme in both mind and body, to your collection.
