¥490,000

This piece is a very well-preserved katana made by Ujifusa. The sword blade is in very clean condition, with no flaws or chips. There are a few faint scuff marks from pulling the sword blade out of the scabbard. The itame hada is well packed and is decorated with niedeki sambonsugi hamon. The name Shinoda Ujifusa is engraved on the nakago.

Ujifusa was a Gifu swordsmith active before and during World War II. His real name was Shinoda Hiroshi, and he was a disciple of Watanabe Kanenaga. During World War II, he was ranked as one of the top swordsmiths in the classification of swordsmiths of the time. He was also awarded the prize for excellence at the New Japanese Sword Exhibition in 1941. The koshirae has a solid and sturdy exterior with modern metal fittings reminiscent of the tensho koshirae. The scabbard is decorated with beautiful sendan kizami.

This sword is ideal for iai or batto and is offered at a very reasonable price.
