A very affordable wakizashi made in the Koto period has just arrived. The length of the blade is 51 cm, so it is a little longer than a regular wakizashi. Hada is well packed itame with some mokume mixed in. Hamon is kognome with some midare mixed in and nie is tight. The boshi is a komal with a small curvature so close to ichimai boshi that it is returned in the shape of takiotoshi.
It is well preserved, but there are traces of what looks like umegane on the shinogi around 22 cm from the tip of the blade on the sashiomote side(See image). It is assumed that the sword had originally been fukure when it was made, and that it was treated with umegane to repair the fukure. We have set the price very low as this slightly detracts from the aesthetics of the piece. This wakizashi is an excellent introduction to the appreciation of Japanese swords. Because of the low price, the early bird gets the wormhole offer.
