We are pleased to present a beautiful Suriage wakizashi in very good condition.
The sword is extremely well preserved, with no flaws, rust, or chips of any kind. The jigane has itame mixed with mokume, and hataraki such as chikei and yubashiri are well visible. Hamon is a thin suguha with well attached jinie, with some sunagashi in places. The nakago is engraved with “ Noshu ju Kanemaki”.
Kanemaki was a swordsmith active in Noshu (present-day Gifu Prefecture) from the Muromachi Eisei period until a swordsmith of the same name moved to Kaga (present-day Ishikawa Prefecture) after him and founded the Kanemaki school, which flourished.
This piece is believed to be the work of the first Kanemaki. This wakizashi was originally a little longer, but the sword blade was made to its present length by Suriage.
This piece is only available with shirasaya equipment, but if you would like to have uchigatana equipment as well (for an additional fee), please let us know in the comments section during checkout.
If affordable and beautiful Japanese swords are what you are looking for then we recommend this one.
