This sword is in fair condition, but there are a few deep flaws on one side of the blade. The dynamic curved Midare hamon pattern is very attractive. The saya and tsuba are original, but the fuchi-kashira and menuki were replaced in later years. There is one mekugi hole on the tang, but there are two holes on the tsuka handle, therefore, this handle may have originally been attached to another sword.
The quality of the blade and the simplicity of the shirasaya mount truly reflect traditional Japanese mastery. A beautiful and meaningful addition to my collection.
