This katana, which is both Ubu and signed, has a blade length of 2 shaku 3 sun 4 bu and a curvature of 8 bu, presenting a truly beautiful form.
The blade has been polished and is in excellent condition, with virtually no flaws. The jigane features a well-tempered ko-itame grain, and the hamon consists of deep niokuchi notare with some gunome mixed in. You can enjoy the ever-fascinating hataraki, such as inazuma, aranie, and yo. The nakago is engraved with the name “Harima Daijo Fujiwara Shigetaka.”
Shigetaka was born in Iida, Shinano Province; he studied swordsmithing under Kanenori in Seki, Mino Province, and later moved to Echizen. The Shigetaka name has been passed down through thirteen generations since the late Edo period and is well-known throughout Japan.
