This katana is a unique piece by swordsmith Kanehisa in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The sword is a kogarasumaru zukuri, in which the kissaki is a double-edged configuration. The original kogarasumaru is a tachi estimated to have been made in the mid-Heian period and is said to be the work of Amakuni, a legendary swordsmith active in the Nara or Heian period.
This kogarasumaru is slightly longer than the original and has a more powerful finish. The sword is beautifully finished with an itame hada and a superbly applied suguha hamon. This is a brand new piece, created in 2020, with no flaws of any kind. The name is engraved on the ridge of the nakago. The scabbard is polished with embedded blue shells called aogai (blue shell) and has a gorgeous lacquered finish.
This is a very affordable offer, so the early bird gets the early bird offer.
