This piece is an O-boshi Japanese sword created by Gifu-based swordsmith Kanehisa in 2019. Kanehisa is currently one of Gifu's leading master swordsmiths and is especially well known as a swordsmith who makes practical swords.
The sword is in very good condition, with no flaws at all, but there are some light scratches from pulling the blade out. There are also some slightly cloudy areas. The chikei shows well on the well-packed itame hada. The hamon is fukurochoji in places on the choji, and several more tama can also be seen. The hataraki, including the yo, ashi, and nie, are very active and dynamic in the ha.
The cut end is 75 mm long, making for a bold and dynamic appearence.
The koshirae is made of modern metal fittings, and the tsukamaki is wrapped with turquois cowhide cords in the style of hinerimaki. Sageo features a stylish tortoise shell design in pure silk.
This is a very powerful and attractive sword, not only for appreciation but also for practical use in iai and batto.
