This sword was made by Nobufusa in the Land of Yamashiro, and one of its major features is that not only the blade but also the tsuba, fuchi-gashira, and menuki have the NBTHK's certificate of authenticity as Tokubetsu-kicho . From 1948 to 1982, the NBTHK recognized valuable swords under the name Kicho and further swords in better condition were certified as Tokubetsu-kicho. Currently, the new appraisal system is called Hozon and Tokubetsu Hozon, but in any case, both the blade and the fitting ornaments have been evaluated as being exceptionally valuable. The blade is in relatively good condition considering its age, sufficient to enjoy the appreciation, but there are some small black rusts on the mune and blade. The koshirae are complete with both shirasaya and uchigatana. The highlight of the uchigatana koshirae is the elegant scabbard with fine and detailed engraving all over and maki-e-like patterns drawn on it, in addition to the tasteful and valuable fitting ornaments. The kurigata has been removed, and gold brocade fabric from Nishijin has been wrapped around the area where the kurigata was removed. This fabric also has a unique texture due to its age. The kuwagata-shaped Ojiri, further enhances the elegance of this koshirae.
