Sanchomo Katana blade hamon

Bring a National Treasure into Your Everyday Life.
Direct from the museum shop of the Bizen Osafune Token Museum (Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture) — one of its most beloved items has finally arrived. This cushion features a full-scale, faithful print of the blade of Sanchomo (山鳥毛), a National Treasure of Japan.

Sanchomo is a tachi forged in Bizen Province during the Kamakura period. Its name is said to derive from the dramatic, sweeping irregular temper line (hamon) along its blade, which evokes the magnificent tail feathers of a copper pheasant (yamdori). It is widely celebrated as the cherished sword of Uesugi Kenshin — one of the most formidable warlords of the Sengoku era — a sword he is said to have never parted with throughout his life. The fame of Sanchomo resonates not only across Japan, but among sword enthusiasts around the world.

The full-scale dimensions of 1,150mm × 200mm capture the commanding presence and graceful elegance that only a true-to-life reproduction can convey. The smooth stretch polyester fabric beautifully showcases the detailed blade print, while the polyester-cotton blended core provides a comfortable, pleasantly firm feel. At approximately 650g, it is easy to handle — equally at home as a body pillow or a striking interior accent piece.

This is an officially sanctioned item brought to you by TOZANDO, the operator of the Bizen Osafune Token Museum's museum shop, with full confidence in its quality and authenticity. Whether as a gift for a Japanese sword enthusiast, a memento from a pilgrimage to the sacred home of Bizen swords, or simply a way to bring the raw power of a true masterpiece into your daily life — we invite you to experience it for yourself.
