O-tanto - Nagayoshi - Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Koto Era - Saitama 39618

¥350,000 ¥400,000

A piece from the Koto period in very good condition has just arrived.

This is a very dynamic dagger. The preservation of the sword is very sound, with no flaws, rust, or chips, although there are some traces of forging in places. The well-packed itame hada has a broad gunome hamon forged into it. In the ha, hataraki such as nie, tama, and yo can be seen on this very impressive sword. On the nakago are engraved the names Bishu Osafune Ju Nagayoshi.

Nagayoshi was a swordsmith active from the late Kamakura period to the early Nanbokucho period, and is said to be one of the ten disciples of that Masamune. The authenticity of this piece is unknown as it has not been authenticated yet, but as a work of art, it is a very well-made and powerful tanto.
