A newly arrived Shinto-period wakizashi with a well-preserved blade and inscription has arrived.
The blade is well-polished overall with few defects and is in good condition. The jigane features itame with occasional mokume mixed in, and is of strong iron with chikei and yubashiri also visible. The hamon, which has a notare pattern, is mixed with ko-choji, and yo and ashi can also be seen within the hamon. The nakago is engraved with the name “Tamba no Kami Yoshimichi.”
Yoshimichi is famous for his unique sudareba hamon, and he was part of a group of swordsmiths who were particularly active during the Shinto period, from the Muromachi period to the Edo period, and were active in sword making in Kyoto and Osaka.
The koshirae is in complete condition with a kozuka, and the finish is elegant. The scabbard lacquering has a matte surface, giving it a calm appearance, and the color matches the black tsumami-maki handle.
To introduce the beauty of Japanese swords to more people, this wakizashi is offered at a very affordable price. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
