TOZANDO KATANA SHOP

Wakizashi - Yasumitsu - Uchigatana Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Koto Era - Osaka 133990

Here is a small Wakizashi with a full package of koshirae equipped with kozuka. This piece was found in the warehouse of an old family and was just registered in September 2024.

The overall condition of the sword's preservation is in old sharpening condition, with some rust and chips present. Relatively large rust is present on the kissaki on the Sashi-omote side. Since it is black rust, it will not erode further, but it is affecting the appearance. Also, the kissaki on the Sashi-ura side has a chipped blade.

Hada is well packed with itame and shows yubashiri. Hamon has a different pattern on the Sashi-omote and Sashi-ura sides. On the Sashi-omote side, bold gunome is mixed with notare. On the Sashi-ura side, there is a mixture of kogunome and choji. The name Yasumitsu is faintly engraved on the nakago, but its authenticity is unknown.

The koshirae are all from the period and are very quaint. The kozuka in particular is also equipped with a black and dark brown shinobue style lacquering on the saya.

The price is set at a very affordable price considering the well-preserved condition of the sword. This piece is recommended for those who would like to study Japanese swords.
