This piece is a sturdy katana originally made as a gunto, perfect for test cutting.

The blade is in excellent condition, with no forging defects, chips, or rust. The surface is slightly cloudy. The jigane is a well-packed itame, and the hamon is an irregular gunome with niedeki. There is no signature, but this was made as a military sword during the Showa period.

The koshirae fittings were made in the Edo period, and the tsukamaki was newly rewrapped in January 2025.
