Tanto - Yasuharu - Aikuchi Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Koto Era - Osaka 134548

¥298,000 ¥320,000

We are proud to present this splendid tanto equipped with Aikuchi koshirae crafted during the Koto period.

The blade is in excellent condition, thoroughly polished and in very sound shape. The jigane features a mixture of itame and masame, with the yubashiri clearly visible. The hamon exhibits a dynamic finish, characterized by a hitatsura-style pattern with prominent gunome in the niedeki, along with prominent tama and tobi-yaki.

The nakago is inscribed with the name Soshu Yasuharu. Yasuharu was a swordsmith exclusive to the Hojo family of Soshu, active in the late Muromachi period. Invited by Hojo Ujiyasu of Odawara, he relocated from Suruga Province to Sagami Province, Odawara, and took the character “Yasu” from Ujiyasu's name, adopting the name Yasuharu.

The koshirae features a dasizame-style tsuka, with gyoyo mon applied to the fuchigashira. The saya is finished in a deep red wakasa lacquer, giving it an elegant and dignified appearance.

This is your chance to own an exquisite tanto, likely once owned by a daimyo. Don't miss this opportunity.
