Katana - Mumei(No Signature) - Uchigatana Koshirae - Suriage Nakago - Koto Era - Miyagi 34772
This piece is a slender yet elegant katana that can be used for iai or batto.
The overall condition of the sword is clean and has few flaws. There is a spot of black rust on the blade about 4 cm from the hamachi on the sashi-omote side. There are also some small spots of rust on the blade at 22 cm and 31 cm from the kissaki on the sashi-ura side. There is also a line of forging at a point 42 cm from the blade.
jigane has itame mixed with mokume, active hataraki such as yubashiri and chikei, and utsuri. Hamon is an elegant, thin suguha with a tightened nioi, and kinsen is also found in ha. It is assumed that the tachi was originally longer, but was shortened in later years to its present length by Suriage.
All koshirae fittings are in new condition with modern materials. Weighing less than 800 grams without the scabbard, it can be used as a practice sword for iaido, but above all, it is a katana with distinct jigane and hamon, which is a real pleasure to appreciate and creates an elegant atmosphere just by displaying it.
