A powerful katana made in 2002 by Gifu swordsmith Masaaki has just arrived.

The sword blade and koshirae are in new condition and are very well preserved. The sword body hada is koitame and shows some hataraki such as yubashiri. The hamon is a dynamic jukachoji with plenty of hataraki such as ashi, yo, and tama, making it look like a beautiful work of art.

Masaaki, whose real name is Ken Yoshida, learned sword making from his father, the first Masaaki, and after he passed away, he further learned sword making from his uncle, Kanemasa. After Kanemasa passed away, he changed his swordsmith name from Masaaki to Kanehisa. He is a master craftsman who has won many awards in numerous new sword competitions.

Koshirae is a new work with modern metal fittings, and tsuka is a black leather cord wrapped in a hinerimaki style. The two-tone color sageo enhances this katana.

This piece is very heavy and excellent for bat use. It also looks great displayed in your living room thanks to the beautiful juka choji hamon.

This is definitely a great piece for anyone looking for a powerful piece of contemporary Japanese sword.
