Katana - Mumei(No signature) - Uchigatana Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Gendai Era - Tokyo 151661
This piece is unmarked, but it is an ubu Japanese sword equipped with uchigatana koshirae with fine fittings, which has not been available on the market until now. Considering its shape and the condition of the nakago, we estimate that it was made in the modern period.
It is in excellent condition, with no fatal defects such as chips, flaws, or rust. The hada is itame and shows chikei. The hamon is a wide midare including gunome and choji, and is very beautifully formed. The metal fittings are from the Edo period and are very tasteful koshirae. Weighing 1150 grams without the scabbard, this katana is not only heavy but the width and thickness of the blade make it a great batto.
It is in good condition and is perfect for someone looking for an affordable batto or a real Japanese sword for test cutting.
